Abstract The development, validation, and applications of an object-oriented free-wake solver for multi-rotor fixed-wing systems are outlined here. Advantages utilizing the philosophy modeling multi-rotor/wing problem described. To explore feasibility conventional desktop workstations, vortex lattice methodology’s time complexity is examined as evolving n-body advantage gained from employing wake roll up models demonstrated. Modifications in typical formulae to leverage features multi-core improvements computational performance obtained these modifications illustrated using a roofline analysis. incorporating optimizations then employed—after extensive validation—to simulate distributed propulsion aircraft urban mobility vehicle. paper also proposes novel skew parameter monitoring instabilities solutions commonly observed rotorcraft
